The Birth and Vision
History
Lichtvision was established in 1997 by four lighting researchers from TU Berlin—Karsten Ehling, Thomas Knoop, Thomas Müller, and Raoul Hesse. The idea for the company took shape during the Lux Europa 97 conference in Amsterdam. From its inception, Lichtvision has been driven by a dual focus: design and technology, aiming to bring innovative lighting solutions to the forefront.
Early on, Carla Wilkins, an experienced lighting designer from leading global firms, joined the team. Her connections were instrumental in securing Lichtvision’s first major project—the transformation of the former Reichsbank into the German Foreign Office.
Concurrently, a strategic partnership with Somfy was formed, laying the foundation for Lichtvision’s Engineering Team.
Lichtvision’s international expansion began in 2006 with its first project in Beijing. This initial success paved the way for further global ventures, including projects across the Middle East and Southeast Asia.
The company’s reputation for excellence grew, opening doors to new markets and opportunities.
