Design Process

At Lichtvision, a team of designers and engineers crafts lighting solutions precisely tailored to specific requirements. Our services range from architectural daylight and artificial lighting design to visual media applications, as well as facade and landscape installations, including appropriate lighting control systems.
Our design process is supported by cutting-edge simulation tools and the latest AI applications. It is particularly important to us that each concept is created as a unique work by people for people – and in close dialogue with our clients and partners.

Design intelligence is our basis for pursuing a holistic approach to concept development. It considers human emotions and our biological rhythms, the use of advanced technologies for sustainability and the embedding of the project in its spatial and cultural context. By integrating these aspects, we create a starting point that is both technically innovative and deeply rooted in human needs. Our lighting design is characterised by a reflective engagement with the place, its purpose and the people who animate it.

Daylighting

Daylight is extremely important in terms of well-being and ecological sustainability. Efficient daylight solutions create a link to the outside and provide the interior with a balanced supply of light and energy. They are not based on purely technical components, but primarily follow architectural principles.
We initiate daylight concepts with an in-depth analysis of urban and spatial conditions. Tailored to specific needs and architectural language, we develop architectural and technical solutions that, in addition to light income and connection to the outdoors, also consider critical aspects of energy income and potential glare effects.

We visualize our concepts in high-quality animations, accompanied by technical simulations. In close coordination with our partners, we develop technical specifications that lead to the best holistic outcome. Incorporating photometric and radiometric parameters, we aim to achieve the best light for people and a sustainable use of the building.

Artificial Lighting

The core of our concepts is inspired by the architectural narrative. Once we have internalised this, we develop a coherent lighting language with our partners. From minimal and sensual to expressive and powerful, while shaping mood and perception.
The communication of light is the key in this phase. The joint discussion about materials and spaces, spatial sequences and cubatures makes it possible to approach the project-specific and detailed design objectives of light and light qualities. The dialogue, the pencil and the reference are our tools in the concept phase.

To detail the project, we use 3D tools for calculations, BIM in construction or real-time visualisation in communication. Our goal is a fully coordinated solution that strikes the best balance between design and sustainability. During the implementation phase, we provide quality assurance and supervise the commissioning and adjustment of the lighting.

Visual Media

The miniaturisation and digitalisation of light makes it possible to playfully combine the façade with communication. The architecture becomes part of the staging and thus the unique canvas of the installation. Giving this ensemble a nocturnal identity and individuality is the talent of visual media solutions.
For us, visual media is a natural part of architecture. The holistic view is decisive for us and characterises the concept. The human and spatial scale defines the technical solution. High-resolution screens, luminaires or mapping form the infrastructure to be integrated and coordinated.

Static, dynamic and interactive lighting scenes characterise the identity of the building. We accompany the installation of the technical lighting solution and develop the content and sequences of the lighting display. We specify the framework conditions for the media control and monitor the programming through to commissioning.

Lichtvision LAB

Our LAB combines application with technology. Our team of designers and engineers from the companies Lichtvision Design and Lichtvision Engineering develop luminaires and IoT solutions for our partners and projects based on requirements and innovation.
Developing customised or series luminaires is a special privilege in lighting architecture. We combine aesthetics with function and total cost of ownership with cradle-to-cradle approaches. We evaluate prototypes and supervise the release of the luminaires. For special optics with project-specific requirements, the French photonics specialist PISEO is our partner.

The best quality of light is determined by fine details. Through partnerships with universities and institutes, we are able to measure high-quality and specific key figures for both glazing and light sources. We incorporate these findings into the world’s most demanding lighting projects.

Lichtvision Engineering

Performance and reliability for connected lightning and building IoT. We provide orientation for the lightning industry. 

Our sister company Lichtvision Engineering has been developing lighting control products since 1997. We drive the specification of lighting controls in the global standardisation community.

We identify market requirements and technology trends, develop lighting and IoT solutions according to your needs. We help with the certification of your product.
