Architect: Collective
Completion year: 2024

The project features a large podium for new commercial office twin towers in Lai Chi Kok’s former industrial area along King Lam Street. The business lighting in this development highlights the transition from industrial to modern commercial spaces, enhancing both functionality and aesthetic appeal. The site sits between King Lam Street on the south and the lush hillside of Lion’s Rock Country Park to the north. As one moves from the busy Lai Chi Kok’s subway exits and roads towards the site, the area transitions into a quieter and calmer cul-de-sac, where traffic is reduced and the green mountain backdrop starts to be visible.

The three-level podium comprises four main program components: commercial retail and F&B shops, two main office lobby entrances of the twin towers, a reconfigurable auditorium, and a large continuous green landscape which extends from the second floor down to the ground level. Carefully planned business lighting ensures these spaces are both inviting and practical, supporting the diverse activities hosted within the podium

Artificial Lighting

Architect: JStudio
Completion year: 2023

The Event & Conference Centre is situated on the Guangyang Island, a land bridge island dominated by subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forests in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River. The main objective is to maintain a sustainable lighting concept to reduce light pollution to a minimum, providing visitors an unobstructed and pure environment and night sky.
The lighting concept features low glare light fixtures and glare controlled mounting details. Through the hierarchical design of the lighting, the visitors can feel the mutual radiance and tolerance of the building and the hills, as well as the “sequence of flowing water” form of the building. The lighting moved upward from a low level, leading the guest to raise their sights slowly, and continue to higher level as they stepped forward.

The new Jil Sander flagship store on London’s fashionable New Bond Street is a monolithic space, seemingly sculpted from a single piece of stone. Its design centers on materiality, with innovative lighting that highlights the varied textures of the surfaces and enhances the sensory experience. This approach aims to create an inviting atmosphere across two levels with distinctive lighting designs.

On the ground floor, lighting mimics a natural, airy artist’s studio, creating a bright environment with subdued shadows and a cozy ambiance. The backlit ceiling dramatically transforms the space’s aesthetic. In contrast, the lower floor offers a more intimate setting with lighting integrated within dome-like structures, appearing as if carved from the ceiling.

The lighting design strategy balances brightness with subtle contrasts and accents to spotlight products effectively. The selected 3500K color temperature not only fosters intimacy but also enhances the distinctive blue tone of the travertine, highlighting its unique quality. This careful design ensures a calm and elegant ambiance that enriches the shopping experience without being overwhelming.

The Tiffany House is a mixed-use development made up of residential units and retail at podium level. The architecture of the façade is inspired by jewellery boxes where the opening drawers invoke a certain curiosity to have a look inside. The lighting element at the façade acts as a frame and just like with a gift, wraps around the façade like a ribbon.
The luxury lighting design complements the interior space by the fixture type having been chosen according to the use of the space. Lichtvision’s scope of work features all interior public areas including residential club house, luxury amenities and retail as well as lush, landscaped terraces on top of the retail podium.
