Chengdu Donganhu Sports Park, as the main venue of the coming FISU World University Games, features one stadium and three sports halls. The main stadium building and interiors are designed by China Southwest Architectural Design and Research Institute Corp Ltd. It can accommodate 40,000 spectators. Lichtvision has been appointed as lead lighting design consultant, responsible for the overall architecture, interior and landscape design in this project. The overall stadium design resembles an UFO. The fully animated lighting scheme features dynamic light scenes consisting of flood lighting, integrated indirect and direct lighting elements and supporting the stadiums rotating character. The large-scale roof signage reflects the traditional symbolic birds of Chengdu.
