Dong'An Lake Sports Park

Chengdu Dong’an Lake Sports Park served as the main venue for the FISU World University Games and comprises a main stadium and three indoor arenas. The 40,000-seat main stadium, including its architecture and interiors, was designed by China Southwest Architectural Design and Research Institute (CSWADI). Lichtvision was appointed Lead Lighting Design Consultant, responsible for the overall architectural, interior, and landscape lighting design.

The main stadium is defined by a striking, futuristic form reminiscent of a flying saucer. The lighting concept responds to the fluid architectural geometry, combining dynamic floodlighting with integrated direct and indirect lighting to accentuate the stadium’s sense of rotation and movement. The monumental roof emblem becomes a distinctive nighttime focal point, featuring a symbolic flying bird motif that reflects Chengdu’s cultural heritage and gives the stadium a strong and recognizable nighttime identity.
