Lichtvision Barcelona

Our Barcelona studio is our practice on the ground in Catalonia and the Iberian Peninsula. From Plaça Catalunya in the centre of the city, we work in Spanish and Catalan, respond to every enquiry personally, and design to the local context: Mediterranean daylight, the strong contrast of sun and shadow, and Barcelona's civic and public space. We know the regulatory ground a project here stands on, including Catalonia's light-pollution law and the region's dark-sky and glare requirements, and we work with local codes and heritage authorities on listed buildings such as those of the Eixample. Our briefs span hospitality, retail, workplace, culture and mixed-use urban developments. The studio is backed by the full international Lichtvision practice, so a project in Barcelona has a local team with the reach of six studios behind it. The Barcelona studio is led by Paolo Cocconi, who built his career over years in our London studio before establishing Barcelona. He brings the experience of that studio, and of its UK and EMEA cultural and workplace work, to Barcelona, so the studio carries an established body of work from its first day.
