The contemporary workplace is being rewritten in real time. People come back to the office for what they cannot get at home: daylight, generosity of space, encounter, and a sense of belonging to a culture. Light is one of the few elements that touches all four. Our workplace practice designs that experience for clients across automotive, pharmaceuticals, finance, technology and the public sector.
We design to international workplace lighting norms — EN 12464-1, IES recommended practice and the WELL Building Standard — but we measure success in human terms: visual comfort, glare-free screens, healthy circadian cues, and the quiet pleasure of a meeting room that does not feel like a meeting room.
Every workplace concept begins with daylight. We model availability through the year, anticipate glare, and tune electric lighting to complement — not replace — the daylight contribution. The result is calmer interiors, lower energy use and a credible contribution to LEED, BREEAM and DGNB credits.
We separate the layers: task light at the desk, ambient light defined by the architecture, accent for material and art, and presence detection that keeps systems honest about real occupancy. This separation is what makes a workplace feel uncluttered visually and efficient operationally.
Workstation lighting is designed for screen work first — UGR values, luminance ratios and uniformity tuned to EN 12464-1 — without sacrificing the soft, almost domestic feel that modern workplace interiors demand.
Large mixed-use developments ask a single question of the lighting: how to give one identity to very different uses. We prepare lighting masterplans that set the hierarchy for a whole scheme before any single building is detailed, so retail, workplace, residential, hospitality and public realm read as one coherent place. We design the transitions between them, integrate light into facades and the public realm at pedestrian scale, and control glare and skyglow to meet dark-sky and light-pollution requirements. Because the uses run on contrasting schedules, we plan operation as a whole: active commercial evenings, calm residential nights, and phased control that carries the scheme through the day without manual effort. Recent mixed-use and urban work includes The Henderson in Hong Kong, The MixC Chengdu Central Square and Changzhou Culture Plaza.
Where the operational case justifies it, we deliver tunable-white circadian strategies aligned with WELL Light feature recommendations. Bright, cool-tinted mornings; warmer, lower-melanopic afternoons; and consistent control logic that occupants can override without complexity.
